About Us

Canadian Women in Cannabis—or CWIC (pronounced ‘quick’)—is a non-profit collective of women (and women-identifying folk) who want to be co-creators of their own cannabis experience in Canada. We’re building a social movement for the acceptance of the historically feminine nature of cannabis and for the de-stigmatization of it in the spaces we live and breathe. By collaborating, sharing, and amplifying our voices, CWIC members aim to advocate for fair, equal, and considerate cannabis laws across the great white north.

And we aim to do it like the bad ass women we are.

We pull all our current power from the women who have committed to our advisory board and our CWIC team, and who've been instrumental in the current and historical cannabis industry.

Won't you join us?

A note from the founder:

Donna Johannson

Equality and human rights have been my lifelong passion, cannabis advocacy has been a path I'm proud to walk, and women's communities have been a lifeline more than once in my life.

The 100+ women that have supported CWIC in it's conception and incubation over the past year are the exact sort of people we need to be stepping up at this moment in time. They're talented, passionate, kind, giving women with one goal in mind: making cannabis safe, accessible, and fair for all to use. They're experts, designers, creators, consultants and advocates from all walks of life, and I couldn't be more grateful for their incredible talent, expertise, and insight to help this little dream succeed.

When I came to all these individual powerhouses with my idea, the feeling of excitement, collaboration, connection, and cooperation was universal. I believe that's the unique power of women coming together: we focus on the grand goals, the future plans, and the way we can all work together to get'er done!

So, I offer my heartfelt thanks to all these incredible women for helping me establish CWIC, and hope that you take the time to explore their beliefs, ideas, and networks - because I'm sure you'll find someone who lights that fire in you that I feel every day when I work with them.

With all my love,

Donna Johannson
